Safari Jungle Safari in Jim Corbett — From the Edge of the Forest

Aahana sits just 15 minutes from the Dhela and Jhirna zones — two of Jim Corbett National Park’s most celebrated gates for tiger, elephant, leopard, and bear sightings. When you stay here, the safari doesn’t begin at the park gate. It begins the moment you step outside your room. Our resident naturalists lead safaris, reading the forest with attention to what isn’t immediately visible. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a returning wildlife photographer, a Corbett safari from Aahana is organised to make the most of the forest’s unpredictability.

Jim Corbett Safari | What to Expect

Jim Corbett National Park spans over 1,300 square kilometres across various safari zones: Jhirna, Dhela, Bijrani, Garjia, Sitabani, Phato, and Dhikala. Aahana’s location near the Dhela and Jhirna zones gives guests access to two of the most popular areas for wildlife sightings. Jhirna and Dhela are open year-round and are especially known for sloth bear and tiger sightings. Dhela has seen a significant rise in tiger activity over recent years and is increasingly favoured by naturalists for its relative quiet and density of sightings. Safaris operate in two slots — early morning and late afternoon — and operate for four hours. Our team handles all permits and coordination for you, so you can enjoy your journey into the wild.

Wildlife at Jim Corbett | What You Might See

Corbett holds the highest density of Bengal tigers among India’s national parks, but the forest offers far more than the prospect of a tiger sighting. Elephants move through the sal corridors in family groups. Jhirna and Dehla are popular elephant corridors, so many times your sightings begin before you enter the safari zones. Leopards, many times, sighted near the buffer zones at dusk. Gharial and mugger crocodiles occupy the Ramganga riverbed. Over 600 species of birds inhabit the park, making Corbett one of India’s finest birdwatching destinations; a fact our resident birding team knows better than most. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed since this is a wild forest, but the local guides have spent years learning this particular jungle, and their knowledge of movement patterns, seasonal behaviour, and microhabitats meaningfully improves your chances.
